Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift split rumours swirl after agonising Super Bowl defeat
Taylor Swift made a swift exit from Sunday’s Super Bowl after watching boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs suffer a crushing 40-22 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles – and fans have been left fearing for their relationship as a result.
The 35-year-old pop star was notably absent from post-game celebrations, choosing instead to depart via private jet from New Orleans airport.
Swift’s departure sparked intense speculation amongst fans when she was spotted wearing ruby red slippers, with her body otherwise completely obscured by security.
The Grammy winner, known for leaving cryptic “easter eggs” for fans through her fashion choices and social media posts, has set off a wave of theories about potential trouble in her relationship with Kelce.
The choice of footwear has particularly intrigued her devoted followers, who regularly analyse her every move for hidden meanings.
Fans took to social media to scrutinise the potential Wizard of Oz symbolism behind Swift’s shoe choice.
One TikTok user suggested: “So the fact that after the Super Bowl the last game of the season, we see Taylor leaving in her Ruby Red Slippers…the show is over.”
“We’re waking up from the dream. It’s very much like The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy wakes up, realises it’s all a dream, clacks her heels and goes back home,” the fan theorised.

Swift’s recent activities have fuelled these speculations, with her Instagram featuring a yellow column reminiscent of the Yellow Brick Road.
Some fans interpreted the ruby slippers as a reference to “We’re not in Kansas anymore,” suggesting Swift might be leaving both Kansas City and Kelce behind.
“She woke up from her dream of love and is going home,” one fan commented on social media.
Former President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to comment on Swift’s Super Bowl experience.
“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” Trump wrote.
The comments follow Swift’s recent endorsement of Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Trump has repeatedly targeted the pop star with similar remarks since she declared her support for Harris.
Not all fans interpreted the ruby slippers as a sign of relationship trouble, however.
Some supporters pointed to the Wizard of Oz quote “There’s no place like home,” suggesting Swift was indicating that home is where Travis lives in Kansas.
Many fans had anticipated a post-game proposal from Kelce and expressed disappointment when Swift departed without an engagement ring.
Despite the swirling theories, the couple’s relationship has remained strong since going public in September 2023.
