Taylor Swift has shown support for her boyfriend Travis Kelce after his comments about playing in front of President Donald Trump at this weekend’s Super Bowl LIX sparked controversy.

The Super Bowl LIX clash in New Orleans will see Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdrome.
The match is a direct rematch of Super Bowl LVII, which the Chiefs won 38-35.
Kansas City are aiming for their third consecutive Super Bowl victory, having defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 last year.
A win against the Eagles would mark Kelce’s fourth Super Bowl championship.
This will be the first Super Bowl attended by Trump since beginning his second term following his victory over Kamala Harris in the November 2024 election.

Speaking ahead of the landmark game, Kelce addressed the prospect of playing in front of the new President.
“It’s awesome. It’s a great honour, I think no matter who the President is,” Kelce said.
“I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life and having the President there, it’s the best country in the world so it’s pretty cool.”

The comments sparked discussion, though sources close to the couple have clarified that Kelce was speaking on behalf of his team and supporters rather than making any political statement.
According to the Daily Mail, a source close to Swift said: “Taylor is not angry at Travis for what he said. Although Travis’s quote was taken as he supports Trump, this is not what Travis said at all.”
The source emphasised that Kelce “never actually even said the word Trump” and would have made the same comments about any president.

“So no, there is no fight, no argument and no blowout over this. Taylor is just so proud of Travis and cannot wait to be there to support him,” the insider added.
The source has revealed that Swift has embraced her role supporting Kelce at his games.
“Cheering him on has become so exciting for her. Taylor is Travis’s biggest cheerleader,” the insider said.
The couple have been dating since 2023, with their relationship garnering significant media attention.
