Alex Jones sparks concern as she makes TV return amid health woes as fans plead for ‘replacement’
Alex Jones has sparked health concerns during her return to The One Show yesterday, as she battled through the programme with a noticeably hoarse voice.
The 47-year-old presenter had been absent from the BBC evening show earlier in the week due to a severe cough.
Despite assuring viewers she was feeling better, Jones’s croaky voice prompted worried reactions from the audience.
The Welsh presenter appeared alongside co-host Roman Kemp for Thursday’s programme, marking her first appearance since being struck down with flu symptoms.
Jones opened the show with: “Hello there and welcome to your Thursday One Show live on BBC One and iPlayer with Roman Kemp.”
Her co-host Kemp immediately addressed her condition, saying: “And a very croaky Alex Jones.”
Jones apologised to viewers, stating: “Sorry if I cough through this.”
When Kemp enquired about her health, asking “Are you feeling a lot better?”, Jones confirmed she was on the mend, responding: “I am yes. A lot better.”
Kemp warmly welcomed his co-presenter back to the show, adding: “It’s lovely to have you back.”
Viewers quickly took to social media to express their concerns about Jones’s condition during the broadcast.

Prior to her return, Jones had shared her health struggles with followers on Instagram through a makeup-free video update.
“I’ve been absolutely poleaxed by some sort of flu for the last couple of days,” she revealed, explaining that while she felt better, her voice was “taking a hit.”

The mother-of-three detailed her attempts to find remedies for her voice, having tried steaming, gargling with white wine vinegar and water, but finding nothing effective.
Jones, who has three children – Teddy, six, Kit, four, and Annie, two – with husband Charlie Thomson, expressed frustration about communicating with her children during her illness.
She appealed to followers for voice recovery suggestions, stating: “If you know something specific that I might not have thought about, I’ll try anything at this point.”
