ITV The Masked Singer fans rule out Gregory Porter as Dressed Crab as they ‘work out’ real identity of singer
The Masked Singer fans have identified a new US chart-topping singer they think is hiding under the Dressed Crab disguise.
Dressed Crab’s true identity remains a mystery but they’ve continued to blow ITV viewers and the judging panel away with their performances.
Last weekend was no different when Dressed Crab took to the stage to belt out a rendition of Lenny Kravitz smash hit, Are You Gonna Go My Way.
Judge Davina McCall branded Dressed Crab “one of the best singers” the show’s ever seen, with guesses from the panel ranging from Billy Porter to Billy Ocean to Michael Kiwanuka to Pharrell Williams.
However, following the clue package from Saturday’s show, several members of The Masked Singer fandom are convinced none of the judges are correct – and it’s no longer former fan-favourite tip Gregory Porter in the frame.
The new frontrunner for the role of Dressed Crab emerged following their clue package in which they said: “Last week I proved I’m no slumpster. And I’m not ready to go home again any time soon.
“If you see an article about the most fashionable crustacean, it’s probably me, Dressed Crab. I mean, look at me.
“I don’t wanna sound corny, but I’ve shown it’s no contest when it comes to style. Coco ‘Chenille’, Stella ‘McCodney’, Calvin Brown, Dressed Crab… we’ve all made an outstanding contribution to the industry.
“I wouldn’t describe my couture as predictable but my success was pre-ordained. Sometimes you’ve got to work with a little faith.
“I don’t want to ‘Lord’ it over the panel but this Dressed Crab has technically been unmasked before and I’m bursting at the seams to reveal my true identity.
“You’ve seen me strut my stuff on that stage two times before but the third time’s a charm. Let’s hope this Dressed Crab stick around a little longer.”
The emphasis on faith led one fan on Reddit to lay out the new theory: “I was in the Gregory Porter camp until tonight and one line in the clue package sent me off in a completely different direction. I think it may be Teddy Swims?
“In the clue package he mentioned working with a little faith, which made me think of Paloma, who Teddy collaborated with. Then Pufferfish sang Teddy’s song, which I think is ITV preempting not many people knowing who Teddy is?”
Viewers on X concurred, with another fan writing on the social media platform: “Teddy Swims could be crab? #maskedsingeruk.”
“I think Crab could be Teddy Swims… #MaskedSingerUK,” a second added before a third mused: “Rag n Bone Man or Teddy Swims? #maskedsinger #Maskedsingeruk.”
“Still think the crab is Teddy Swims. #maskedsinger,” another weighed in before a fifth commented: “Teddy Swims – crab #maskedsinger,” followed by a crab emoji. (sic)

Swims’ surge to the top of fans’ predictions comes at the same time bookmakers have opted for a similar strategy.
A spokesperson for Gambling.com said: “Dressed Crab looked nailed on to be Gregory Porter until last Saturday night’s episode, but some fans have now turned their attentions to the character being fellow US singer Teddy Swims.
“He is now the 4/6 favourite to be Dressed Crab, but British singer Michael Kiwanuka (11/8) has also entered the market.”
Gregory Porter is at evens, while Terry Crew is an outsider at 2/1 followed by Nile Rodgers at 4/1.
