Macy Gray blasted for ‘fuming’ reaction to ITV Masked Singer axe after storming off stage: ‘Really ungracious!’
The Masked Singer fans have been left shocked by the dramatic exit of American singer and actress Macy Gray from the eccentric ITV gameshow.
On Saturday’s outing, Gray, 57, was revealed to be behind Toad in the Hole which resulted in the Grammy award winner storming off stage.
The singer had performed Boney M’s “Sunny” earlier in the programme, with panellist Mo Gilligan initially speculating the voice could belong to Tracy Chapman.
Gray found herself in the bottom two alongside Bear during Saturday’s show, with the judging panel ultimately voting to save her competitor.
As the decision and Toad in the Hole’s real name was announced, Gray turned and walked off stage without saying a word before she could be unmasked – breaking with usual show tradition.
The dramatic exit left host Joel Dommett and judges Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross, and Maya Jama open-mouthed in shock.
Dommett was forced to keep everything together and fill time with some impromptu comedy while producers attempted to get the show back on track.
A whistleblower from The Masked Singer revealed the cast and crew were “frozen in shock” as Gray stormed off, The Sun reports.
“Macy was almost shellshocked to start with and was basically gutted to be out so early because she really enjoyed being on the American version,” they continued.
They informed that it “took everyone backstage ages to talk her round” and convince the 57-year-old to take the stage again to be formally unmasked.
Many viewers were unimpressed with Gray’s reaction and took to social media to share their thoughts.
One observed: “This is one of the most awkward moments ever. Macy is furious she’s out!”
“God it’s only a bit of fun. What a miserable diva. #maskedsingeruk,” another slammed.
A third particularly unhappy fan wrote: “Wow… Macy Gray, what a sour c**… really ungracious in defeat #MaskedSingerUK”
A fourth analysed: “Macy Gray is not a happy bunny. Her voice is so distinctive it was obvious it was her. Of course she was gonna get found out. No need to be so stroppy #MaskedSingerUK
“Omg Macy Gray absolutely f***ing raging this is so funny #MaskedSingerUK,” a fifth wrote, finding the funny side.

Remaining in the competition are Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Pufferfish, Snail, Tattoo, Teeth and Wolf.
Fans have been speculating wildly about Wolf, with many now believing an iconic 1980’s pop star is behind the mask.
