BBC Strictly viewers ‘in tears’ over rare Dianne Buswell moment as Chris McCausland ‘gives something back’
Strictly Come Dancing fans admitted they were “in tears” in the latest episode as professional Dianne Buswell welcomed her parents to the live show for the first time.
The Australian-born dancer is rarely able to witness her parents watching her live on TV, and she thanks partner Chris McCausland for getting her to Week 10 so the special moment could happen.
“This week, my parents are coming over form Australia,” the choreographer explained, adding: “I’m so excited”.
“Mum and dad haven’t seen me dance on the show since my very first year – seven years ago now,” she added during the VT.
After being introduced to McCausland, Buswell’s mother commented: “To be here in this amazing moment is pretty special.”
Buswell instantly burst into tears as her dad and McCausland comforted her.
“I’m just so grateful for all your hard work throughout these weeks to allow this moment to be a possibility,” Buswell later told the comedian.
“She’s given me so much over the last three months, I feel like I’ve given her a little something back,” he went on to say.
Following the couple’s Pasodoble, the cameras cut to Buswell’s parents in the audience, with her dad Mark visibly crying.
There didn’t seem to be a dry eye in the house as host Tess Daly pointed out tearfully: “Mark is crying… Don’t make me cry, Mark!”
“I’m glad I can’t see him, I’d be set off,” McCausland joked.
Co-host Claudia Winkleman was equally emotional as she told them “it makes us all cry” while reflecting on how the paid hadn’t been sure in the early weeks that they’d make it far enough for the dancer’s parents to watch them live.
“He was sobbing his heart out,” Winkleman noted of Mark before she continued: “So was your mum.”
It didn’t take long for fans to join in with the display of emotion, with one writing on X: “I missed their dance, but I’m still crying. #Strictly.”
“Chris and Dianne awesome as always. Mark crying set me off again!! #strictly,” another penned.
“I’m definitely not crying #DiannesDad #Strictly,” someone else shared.
