Jeremy Clarkson launches ‘genius’ Hawkstone product days after sharing financial struggles
Jeremy Clarkson has released a unique take on an Advent Calendar just days after sharing his financial struggles of running his new pub, The Farmer’s Dog.
The former Top Gear presenter’s “non-Advent Calendar” seems to be Clarkson’s way of challenging the Dry January trend, with a months’ worth of lager cider and gifts from his Hawkstone brand.
The 64-year-old explained: “Past the age of nine advent calendars lose their appeal somewhat, but not this one.”
“This is the Hawkstone advent calendar and behind the little door on each day of the month there is a delicious bottle of beer and cider,” he added, reports LancsLive.
The 31 doors each contain a selection from Clarkson’s brand, from his low-alcohol range to a 40 percent vodka.
At £85, buyers also receive a pair of shot glasses. An online description reads: “Don’t fancy a dry stint in January? Go for a drizzle instead with the damp edition of our Not Advent Advent Calendar.
“Delicious British low-alcohol lager, our light Breeze lager, and a bottle of premium vodka to celebrate when it’s all over.”
The slogan written on the box adds: “January is rubbish; your drinks don’t need to be.”
Clarkson has also created a dry version for the same price, which contains only the 0.3 percent lager.
His social media followers quickly rushed to the comments to brand him “a genius” for the new product.
The release comes just days after Clarkson expressed concerns for his finances.
Clarkson opened the doors to The Farmer’s Dog in Oxfordshire earlier this year, and has been candid about some of the hurdles he has faced.
Last week, he detailed the eye-watering costs of keeping the place afloat and the “council off our back”.
The Grand Tour star admitted he’d believed “it would all be fine,” but has realised “I was wrong”. Since the grand opening, he has opened up about various issues with the pub as well as having to appease the local council.
He further detailed problems over the weekend, reflecting on the costs of replacing glassware that has been disappearing as well as reeling off the staggering costs fans may not be aware of.
And there’s one eye-watering expenditure that Clarkson claims he has to fork out for just to avoid another head-to-head with the local council.
“(The cost of replacing stolen glasses) must be added to the £100 a day we spend on fuel for the generator, the £400 a week it costs to provide warmth on the terrace and the £27,000 a month we must spend on parking and traffic marshals to keep the council off our back,” the farmer shared.

Detailing further the “horror” situation he’s found himself in, he recounted an issue with the toilets, commenting: “No amount of festival visits would prepare you for the horror of what had been produced at the Farmer’s Dog.
“It was everywhere and in such vast quantities that no ordinary plumbing or cleaning equipment would even scratch the surface.
“So a whole team of chemically trained hazmat engineers had to be employed. That’s a cost I’d never factored into any of my business plans.”
“It’s galling to see how much effort is required to make so little money on the farm. It’s worse at the pub,” he continued to The Sunday Times.
