Katie Price’s ex Kieran Heyler issues apology to Princess following heartbreaking confession
Personal trainer Kieran Hayler has expressed deep remorse towards his former stepdaughter Princess Andre after she revealed painful childhood memories in her new ITV2 programme The Princess Diaries.
The 38-year-old, who was married to Katie Price from 2013 until their divorce was finalised in 2021, opened up about his desire to make amends with the 18-year-old influencer.
“I am as sorry as I can be to Princess witnessing us go through such a horrible separation,” Hayler stated.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he admitted: “Leaving them was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.”
His comments follow Princess’s candid revelations about the devastating impact his infidelities had on her family life, particularly her mother’s subsequent struggles with mental health and addiction.
In her documentary series, Princess Andre spoke openly about witnessing her mother’s decline during what she described as “dark times” following the marital breakdown.
The teenager, daughter of Price and Peter Andre, was just 10 years old when her mother’s relationship with Hayler ended.
“I wish I could have had a happier childhood,” Princess revealed in the programme. “I had so much on my plate at such a young age and had things at the back of my mind.”
She described how her mother’s heartbreak led to struggles that children should never witness.
“When we needed our mum there, she wasn’t there because she had her own problems,” the 18-year-old explained, adding that whilst she hasn’t fully healed from these experiences, her mother has since made significant improvements.
Hayler’s marriage to Price unravelled after he engaged in affairs with multiple women, including the former glamour model’s close friend of two decades, Jane Pountney, and their children’s nanny, Nikki Brown.
The couple attempted reconciliation through a vow renewal ceremony in Barbados in 2016, but Hayler’s continued infidelity with the nanny emerged the following year, leading to their separation in 2018.
“He did a lot of stuff and when they split up everything kind of went downhill,” Princess stated in her show, acknowledging the understandable nature of her mother’s subsequent struggles.
Despite his admissions of wrongdoing, Hayler maintained to the Daily Mail that he believes he fulfilled his role as stepfather adequately.
“I was the best stepfather that I could have been to them,” he claimed.
Hayler disclosed that he no longer maintains contact with his former stepchildren, acknowledging that such bonds naturally fade over time.
The personal trainer expressed interest in watching Princess’s documentary series and indicated he would welcome an opportunity to understand her perspective from that difficult period.
“I would love to apologise and really know how she felt during that time when mine and Kate’s marriage broke down,” he stated.
Following his divorce from Price, Hayler entered a relationship with Michelle Penticost, with whom he had a son, Apollo, before their recent separation.
