Sophia Hutchins cause of death confirmed after Caitlin Jenner’s close pal and manager died aged 29
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed that Sophia Hutchins died from multiple blunt force injuries following her fatal all-terrain vehicle accident on July 2 near Caitlyn Jenner’s Malibu home.
The 29-year-old’s death has been ruled accidental, according to a death certificate obtained by multiple US outlets.
Hutchins, who served as Jenner’s close friend and manager, was pronounced dead at the scene after her ATV plunged 350 feet down a cliff following a collision with another vehicle.
The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health document reveals that whilst the case remains open, the manner of death has been officially classified as an accident.
Hutchins is scheduled to be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Los Angeles on July 24.
The fatal crash occurred on Decker Canyon Road when Hutchins was driving a 2013 Polaris ATV at high speed and struck a grey 2016 Mazda 6 carrying two passengers.
“It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, the other party, and then that caused her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told the Daily Mail.
The sergeant explained that Hutchins attempted to manoeuvre around the Mazda, which was being driven by a local estate agent showing properties in the area.

“She was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there,” Saucedo added.
The two women in the Mazda were uninjured in the collision.
Hutchins first met Jenner in 2015 when the Olympic gold medallist announced her transition, with the pair quickly forming a close bond.
The Washington native went on to appear in multiple episodes of Jenner’s E! reality series I Am Cait and later became CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation.
“We have so much in common; we see the world so similarly and we both are such a good match for each other because we challenge each other,” Hutchins once said in an interview with The Hidden Truth with Jim Breslo.
She also served as Jenner’s business manager, having stepped in after observing that “there were all these people taking massive advantage,” she told The New York Times in 2019.
“If I don’t step in here and start managing you, you’re going to go broke,” she recalled telling Jenner.
A search and rescue team rappelled down the cliff face to recover Hutchins’ body, whilst the ATV remained at the bottom of the ravine as the tow company “didn’t have a line that was long enough to attach it and pull it up,” according to Sergeant Saucedo.
Jenner, 75, was present at the accident scene when authorities arrived.
Sources close to the reality television star told RadarOnline.com that “Caitlyn is numb with shock. She is absolutely devastated and can’t believe what’s happened. Sophia was a big part of her life.”
The former Olympian has reportedly been supporting Hutchins’ family, with TMZ reporting that she has offered Hutchins’ mother Amy accommodation as they grieve together.
Hutchins was also the founder and CEO of health technology company LUMASOL and graduated from Pepperdine University in 2019 with a degree in economics and finance.
