Dick and Angel Strawbridge share tearful update on daughter Dorothy as she marks major milestone: ‘End of an era’
Dick and Angel Strawbridge shared a nostalgic post on their Instagram page as the Escape to the Chateau couple celebrated a major turning point in their daughter Dorothy’s life.
The 11-year-old, along with her old brother Arthur, has been a part of her parents’ documented adventure since they upped sticks and re-located to France, where they began filming for their Channel 4 docuseries in 2016.
While their series ended in 2022, the popular family have kept their huge following updated with a podcast, a tour and of course their wholesome social media updates.
On Friday, they left some fans in tears as they marked Dorothy’s last day of junior school by sharing a clip of the youngster’s very first day at school.
The clip showed a very young Dorothy grinning while Angel, 47, cried.
“My little girl’s going to school,” the other-of-two states as she hugs the little girl.
Grabbing a tissue, she joked: “I’m going to be absolutely happy about it… there’s no problem,” before breaking down in tears.
After dropping her off at the school gates, husband Dick, 65, commented: “She’s two – she’s tiny! I started school in September, I was five in the September. That’s a huge difference from the UK.”
Turning to his emotional wife, he asked: “What do you think about leaving your little girl?”
Angel managed to reply “good,” before becoming choked up and wiping away tears.
“Really good?” Dick asked, prompting Angel to admit: “When Arthur went to school, I was sort of quite excited to spend a little bit of time with Dorothy.
“Because I didn’t think I’d had a lot of time just with Dorothy. What are we going to do?”
Placing an arm around his wife, Dick responded: “We’re going to go and frolic in the chateau! Come with me, girl,” before they headed back arm in arm.
The clip then showed a current photo of Dorothy, with the words: “Good luck baby! We can’t wait for your next adventure…” written above.
They captioned the sweet post: “Hello to you on this fabulous Friday! Well today marks a rather momentous day for Dorothy.
“It’s her last day of junior school and an end of an era! It only feels like yesterday when she walked though those gates.
“It’s been a very special decade and we will truly miss this fantastic school and all the teachers…
“Tonight we party.. The entire year and Dorothy’s past and present tutors will celebrate here at the chateau…
