Corrie legend’s fate on ITV soap revealed after on-screen son’s shocking murder
Coronation Street fans hoping to see Beth Tinker return for her on-screen son’s funeral will be disappointed, as sources confirm she won’t be appearing on screen despite Craig’s tragic murder.
The police officer, played by Colson Smith for the past 14 years, was brutally killed by villain Mick Michaelis in shocking scenes that aired recently.
While Beth, portrayed by Lisa George until her departure from the show last year, will be involved in the funeral, the ceremony will take place away from Weatherfield and won’t be shown to viewers.
Craig’s death came after a vicious attack at the hands of villain Mick Michaelis, who beat the innocent police officer with a bat before leaving him for dead.
Despite initially being rushed to hospital with his friends and colleagues remaining hopeful, Craig succumbed to his horrific injuries, which included swelling on the brain.
The tragic moment was particularly heartbreaking for Kirk Sutherland, who was shown rushing into the hospital room in floods of tears upon learning of Craig’s death.
The brutal nature of the attack has shocked viewers, with Colson Smith later admitting he had no idea just how violent his character’s exit would be.
Sources have confirmed to The Sun that Craig’s funeral will take place away from the cobbles, with Beth involved but not appearing on screen.

Colson Smith, who played Craig since the age of 12, recently opened up about learning of his character’s fate.
Speaking on This Morning to Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, the 26-year-old revealed: “When you get told you’re leaving a show, the one thing you ask is ‘Am I killed and how do I go?’ I wanted to be killed.”
He described the meeting with show boss Kate Brooks, saying: “Getting told is hard, hearing the words – I tried really hard not to put the words into her mouth.
“As soon as I knew, I was at peace with what was going on.”
