Blake Lively, 37, issues heartfelt statement as Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham team pull off historic feat
Blake Lively has dedicated a touching post to her husband Ryan Reynolds, 48, after his Welsh football team Wrexham AFC were promoted to the Championship yesterday.
The 37-year-old actress shared a snap of Reynolds and his fellow Hollywood royalty co-owner Rob McElhenney, 48.
Lively was present with her husband during the jubilant scenes after Wrexham’s 3-0 triumph over Charlton.
The victory saw the North Wales club promoted to the second division for the 2025-26 season, a third successive leap for the team.

As the final whistle was blown, fans swarmed the pitch and the Hollywood co-owners, while Lively documented the moment.
Posting a photo of Reynolds and McElhenney hugging, she shared a sweet message to her husband and the people of Wrexham.
“Back to back to back. History was made. Congratulations to @Wrexham_afc. I will never forget the love and elation in that town today. Thank you for sharing it with us,” she captioned the post.
“And to these two men, @robmclehenny & @vancityreynolds… the love and respect that pours out of you each and together exponentially grows and creates more joy, more possibilities, more magic, more history.”
“This picture feels to me like a painting of all you do for so many while being so present and appreciative of every moment,” she glowed in the post.
Lively’s post comes as she continues a brutal legal feud with Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director on the 2024 film It Ends With Us.
The Gossip Girl star sued Baldoni in late December last year, alleging harassment and a coordinated campaign to attack her reputation.
Baldoni, who denies the allegations, filed a countersuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds for defamation and extortion.
Both parties have denied any wrongdoing, and a trial date has been set for March 2026.
Reynolds and McElhenney purchased Wrexham in 2020, when the club was languishing in the fifth division.
On the back of the takeover and the FX series Welcome to Wrexham covering their journey, the club has shot to global fame with an international fanbase.
In his own lengthy tribute post, Reynolds wrote: “We’ve been with Wrexham for what seems like the blink of an eye, but so much has happened… I feel at home here. It’s a place that values community, decency and history.”
“I know so many of you now. Since February, 2021, I’ve watched babies become regulars. And some regulars depart us for good. We’ve had the honour to scatter ashes of loved ones across that field.”
“Somebody said the Welsh have the ‘heart of a poet and the fist of a fighter’. That’s what I love about this place. I wish the whole world could visit Wrexham. Diolch,” he continued.
McElhenney simply wrote: “I have no words.”
The actors also shared images and videos of the joyous scenes in Wrexham’s stadium.
