Former UK Eurovision act blasts JK Rowling as ‘ugly inside and out’ in foul-mouthed rant after gender court ruling
UK 2023 Eurovision star Mae Muller has labelled JK Rowling “ugly inside and out” following her celebratory response to this week’s Supreme Court ruling on the definition of a woman.
The Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that the legal definition of a woman must be based on biological sex, sparking intense debate across social media platforms.
The landmark decision, handed down on Wednesday, has created sharp divisions among public figures and activists.
While some celebrated the ruling as a victory for women’s rights, others condemned it as harmful to transgender communities.
The Supreme Court judges emphasised that the ruling was not intended as “a triumph of one or more groups in our society at the expense of another”.
Nevertheless, the decision has prompted strong reactions from both supporters and critics.
Rowling, the Harry Potter author who has been outspoken on transgender issues in recent years, was quick to share her approval of the ruling.
Her celebratory post immediately drew both praise and fierce criticism from various quarters.
Singer Muller has strongly condemned Rowling’s stance on the Supreme Court ruling.

Responding directly to Rowling’s celebratory post, Muller wrote: “celebrate now but just know that trans women are not going anywhere, they exist no matter what hatred you spew, and your transphobia has made you incredibly incredibly ugly inside and OUT. f***ing loser.”
The Eurovision contestant’s forceful rebuke highlights the growing divide between public figures on transgender rights issues.
Muller’s comments represent one of the most direct criticisms from the entertainment industry following the court’s decision.
Edinburgh-based author Rowling shared an image of herself smoking a cigar and enjoying a drink, apparently taken abroad.
Alongside the photo, Rowling wrote: “I love it when a plan comes together.”
Her post quickly went viral, receiving over 200,000 likes and more than 8,000 comments.
Throughout the legal case, Rowling has been a vocal supporter of For Women Scotland, the campaign group that took the motion to the Supreme Court.
Social media responses to her post were deeply divided. Some compared her to historical figures with “hatred for minorities”, while others praised her, saying: “Without people like you, we wouldn’t have today.”
Critics accused her of “using wizarding fortune to become the volunteer bouncer of gender” instead of enjoying her wealth.
Meanwhile, supporters offered congratulations “to you and all UK women”.
This legal clarification comes after years of heated debate about transgender rights and women’s spaces.
For Women Scotland, who brought the case to the Supreme Court, view the outcome as a significant victory.
However, the ruling has intensified existing divisions, with public figures from entertainment, politics and activism continuing to voice strong opinions on both sides.
