Stacey Solomon, 35, supports Joe Swash, 43, as he tearfully shares health diagnosis battle amid BBC show backlash
Stacey Solomon offered a comforting shoulder to her husband Joe Swash as he became emotional in the latest episode of their BBC series, Stacey and Joe.
During Tuesday’s instalment of the reality series, which follows the two famous faces as they juggle family life and their careers, former EastEnders star Swash became tearful as he opened up to his wife about his ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) diagnosis.
The candid on-camera moment came as Swash, 43, confided in Solomon, 35, following an appointment he’d had about his ADHD.
During the episode, which aired on April 15, Solomon was busy sorting Halloween crafts for the party she was hosting, while Swash went to check out the price he’d be looking at to create a fishing lake, a dream garden feature of his.
He was quickly brought back down to earth when he realised the eye-watering cost of the venture, and he soon reflected on his ADHD.
The soap star explained: “Being a kid, I don’t think ADHD back then was even recognised, so I had ADHD and a touch of dyslexia, so I really got tarred with the brush of being a naughty kid.
“I feel like I sort of invented this character to sort of protect myself a little bit, just making people laugh.”
The instalment began to follow the actor as he sought psychiatric advice about managing ADHD with a hectic schedule.

The end of the instalment saw Swash returning from the consultation, explaining he’s decided to revisit medication.
Speaking to Solomon, he explained: “It was nice to speak to him, because he understands the ins and outs of what’s going on.
“It’s opened up a box of worms for me, where it goes a little bit deeper than I thought it was going to.”
Reflecting on his childhood, he told his wife: “I wasn’t a bad boy.”
“You’ve never been a bad person,” Solomon assured him, to which he replied: “I was just misunderstood”.
“And I always had to pay the consequences for it because no one understood that it was coming from a different place,” he continued sadly.
“I’m so happy you went Joe, so happy,” Solomon enthused.
Swash seemed choked up as he held back tears, with Solomon offering some understanding words.
“I know that’s difficult to think about, but ultimately, you’re a good person, Joe and you’re not able to be your best self at the moment,” she told her husband.
She assured him: “You don’t deserve to be going through this. This is about finding your footing again.”
An overwhelmed Swash allowed himself to become emotional as he wiped away tears and replied: “Yeah… so that’s that.”
Solomon threw her arms around her husband with a reassuring hug, telling him: “I love you.”
The poignant moment comes as Stacey and Joe continues to face criticism from licence fee payers who’ve hit out at the prime-time scheduling of the show.
Some viewers have voiced their disdain for the Beeb for funding the series for what they branded as “boring” and trash” TV.
