Daley Thompson, 66, faces bizarre ITV CBB axe calls as JK Rowling support tweets resurface after Danny Beard clash
Former Olympian Daley Thompson has been slammed by a number of Celebrity Big Brother fans for clashing with Drag Queen star Danny Beard.
Tensions rose during last night’s episode after RuPaul Drag Race UK winner Beard entered the house as a late entrant and was greeted by their new housemates.
However, just hours after entering, Beard seemed to receive an unwanted reception from Thompson, who made a pointed comment to the drag queen star.
Beard confided in comedian and actress Donna Preston about the situation. The drag star told her that in the living room, they mistakenly thought Mickey Rourke was selecting them for a secret task, which prompted Thompson to say to Beard: “Not everything is about you”.
The hurt star told Preston: “I’m overthinking it. I’m gonna totally make an effort with him tomorrow, that’s it.”
However, in the diary room, Beard admitted: “I think I’ve tried to make an effort with everybody, but I heard Daley make a comment like, ‘Well, not everything revolves around you’ and, I don’t know if I’m overthinking it…

“I can sense or I feel like he’s a bit wary of me, and that’s fine because maybe I’m also a little bit wary of him.”
Fans noticed the continued tension despite Beard trying to brush it off and called for Thompson’s axe due to Beard’s popularity.
Taking to their X account, one penned: “I’m so glad Danny has Daley clocked so early on #CBBUK get him out first.”
Another added: “Danny definitely isn’t overreacting with Daley #CBBUK, his past speaks for himself and I just hope he stands up for himself.

The backlash towards Thompson after his row with Beard intensified further after a resurfaced tweet supporting Harry Potter author and biological women’s right advocate JK Rowling emerged
Posting a screenshot of India Willoughby’s post in October 2024, which read “I’ll never view Camilla as Queen,” Rowling replied: “Doubt the monarchy can survive this.”
Thompson replied to Rowling’s comment and penned: “JK, if I may be so familiar, I do wonder why you give them the oxygen they are so desperate for but I am so so glad you do.
“It’s a kick in the b***s every time.”
At the time of posting, Thompson received backlash for his comments, and the post has garnered fresh attention thanks to his clashes with Beard.
Thompson wasn’t the only CBB star who had fans talking thanks to their interactions with the drag performer.
Actor Rourke sparked debate among ITV viewers when he was told to refer to Beard as a “she” when the 32-year-old is in drag.
Rourke admitted he found the use of preferred pronouns as “confusing” but did compliment Beard after the pair hit it off on launch night.
Several viewers applauded Rourke for asking about Beard’s pronouns and adhering to Big Brother’s advice, while others argued he shouldn’t have had to ask given Beard is a drag performer.
