Davina McCall flooded with support as she tearfully reflects on brain tumour surgery and ‘personality’ concerns
Davina McCall became visibly emotional as she detailed the impact of her recent brain tumour and surgery she underwent to remove it.
McCall, 57, left fans concerned at the end of last year when she shared she had to have brain surgery for a benign tumour.
Months on from the major procedure, McCall has assured fans in several updates that she is on the mend following the surgery.
Her partner, Michael Douglas also updated the former Big Brother presenter’s fans for her while she initially recovered.
She mentioned previously about the impact on her memory, and in a new interview can be seen holding back tears as she addresses how the medical condition impacted her “personality”.
In the latest edition of her podcast, Begin Again, McCall chatted openly with Dragons’ Den star Steven Bartlett.
Sharing a teaser of the episode, the Masked Singer judge is clearly emotional as she admits in the clip: “I felt like this thing had taken control of me. They said, ‘You’ve got a benign cyst in your brain.'”
“You wake up, post-op, what happens there?” Barlett asked.
“I don’t really remember where I was,” McCall shared, later adding: “You realise that your personality is your short-term memory.”
The presenter became tearful as she continued: “I was like, ‘I’m still in here.’ I began again, again.”
Captioning the Instagram post, she penned: “This week I’m swapping seats.
“I am completely overwhelmed with the amount of messages of love and support from every single one of you – truly!”
She continued: “And of course, there was only one place I could come to tell this story.
“With none other than Mr Steven Bartlett (@steven)! Who’s keeping my seat warm for me this week.”
Detailing that the episode would be available from Thursday morning, she concluded: “It’s time for me, to Begin Again (again, again, again).”
Fans were quick to express their support in the comments, labelling McCall “inspiring”.
