Davina McCall branded ‘barely recognisable’ as she debuts striking new look on ITV The Masked Singer
Davina McCall, 57, has left viewers of ITV’s The Masked Singer gob-smacked after debuting a striking new look on Saturday’s show.
The former Big Brother star returned to the judging panel to offer up her guesses as to which celebs were performing under the disguises – but it’s safe to say fans were far more concerned with the transformation.
McCall usually appears on-screen sporting shoulder-length brunette locks but on Saturday, she switched things up.
Instead, the 57-year-old debuted an all-new striking blonde bob as she took her seat on the judging panel.
The dramatic change in appearance sparked quite the reaction among ITV viewers who soon flooded social media to admit they struggled to recognise the TV presenter.
On X, one fan admitted: “Barely recognised Davina with that blonde wig. #themaskedsingeruk #maskedsingeruk.”
“Didn’t even recognize Davina for a second #maskedsingeruk,” a second conceded while a third had similar difficulties: “I wondered who that was in the blonde wig, it’s Davina… #maskedsingeruk.”
Elsewhere, a fourth was undecided on the look: “Davina’s hair.. bit different #maskedsingeruk.”
While a fifth weighed in to applaud the judge: “Love Davina’s wig!! Really suits her! @ThisisDavina #maskedsingeruk.”
But a sixth wasn’t convinced: “No Davina what have you done to your hair, bring it back bring it back bring it back… #maskedsingeruk.” (sic)
While some may have been hoping the blonde bob was a permanent fixture, McCall has confirmed the hair-do was indeed a wig.
Her hair stylist partner Michael Douglas explained all in an Instagram post alongside a video of him helping his other half with the hairpiece.
“My absolute favourite of the series this week,” Douglas penned. “The wig was lent to us by @amberjeanshop and I’ve been so grateful for their help with the hair this season of @maskedsingeruk on @itv.
“I love using the wigs they keep things really simple and really quick and @davinamccall looks absolutely stunning in it.
“I had to style it a little bit using the @mdlondon STRAIT Which you can find out more about mdlondon.com and also one of my favourite styling sprays @umbertogiannini texture boost.
“Fantastic job as always done by @abigailrosewhite on clothes and @cherylphelpsgardiner on the make up. Hope you enjoy the show tonight, and happy guessing, good luck. It’s a good one,” Douglas signed off. (sic)

While McCall’s new look had tongues wagging this weekend, it’s not the first time Masked Singer fans have flooded the web with their opinions on the judging panel.
Last week, Jonathan Ross faced calls to step down from the panel altogether thanks to a running gag that got on the wrong side of viewers at home.
