Kathy Bates has sparked concern amongst some viewers during her appearance at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday evening, as the 76-year-old actress seemingly appeared “frail” whilst presenting an award.
The Oscar winner, who has recently undergone a dramatic weight loss transformation, was seen shaking and requiring support from her co-presenter during the ceremony at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.
The Misery star took to the stage alongside Twisters actor Anthony Ramos, 33, to present the Best Supporting Actress – TV award to Jessica Gunning for Baby Reindeer.
Bates, who showed off a notably trim frame and youthful updo on the red carpet, drew immediate attention from viewers who expressed worry about her physical condition during the broadcast.
The veteran actress was herself nominated at this year’s ceremony in the Best Actress – Drama category for her role in Matlock.

Bates recently opened up about her significant weight loss journey, which has seen her shed a total of 100lbs in recent years.
Over the past seven years, the actress lost 80lbs through focusing on a healthier lifestyle, with an additional 20lbs lost after using Ozempic.
Speaking to People magazine in October, Bates addressed speculation about her transformation, stating: “There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic.”
The actress emphasised the effort behind her weight loss: “But I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic. It’s very hard to say you’ve had enough.”
Her decision to prioritise her health came after receiving a type 2 diabetes diagnosis in 2017.
The Golden Globes ceremony, hosted by Emmy-nominated comedian Nikki Glaser, saw Bates take on presenting duties alongside Anthony Ramos at the prestigious Beverly Hilton hotel.
