Chris McCausland claims BBC Strictly has ‘worn down my resilience’ as he opens up on ‘emotional’ few days ahead of final
Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has revealed his resilience has been worn down due to the intensity of the final week of the competition.
On the weekend, the comedian and his dance partner Dianne Buswell were overwhelmed and thrilled to find out they had made it to the final this weekend.
Whilst many had their reservations about his signing, McCausland and Buswell soon showed that hard work and dedication will get you to where you want to be.
This weekend, they will be performing the Showdance to You Get What You Give by New Radicals and the Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers.
They will also be revisiting their Couple’s’ Choice to Instant Karma (We All Shine On) by John Lennon – which saw a score of 33 out of a possible 40.
Despite feeling grateful to be in the final of the BBC dancing competition, McCausland recently admitted he felt like his resilience was dwindling.
The couple joined It Takes Two host Janette Manrara tonight when she asked: “On Sunday’s show, you both yelped with delight when you were announced to be through to the final.
“Chris in the Claud-atorium, you admitted that you could barely talk after getting the news. Have you now found the words to describe what it feels like to be a finalist?”
He candidly and openly responded: “No, I haven’t really, truly recovered. It’s been an emotional few days this week and it has been… I feel worn down, my resilience is worn down.
“I kind of fell apart a bit on Saturday, I haven’t fully recovered and then we have been training this week and I have had a few wobbles haven’t I? It is incredible but I am still feeling quite emotional.”
Manrara went on: “Dianne, many would say that Chris would be out of the competition quite quickly.
“Tell us what it means to have Chris turn something that could be considered a weakness, is actually a strength.”
Smiling with pride, she replied: “This is incredible. I had lots of messages telling me that we would have a pretty quick season.
“But we showed people that there is so much more that is possible than what people actually think.
“That is, it is a real nice feeling isn’t it Chris, to show that we can do more than what they think we can, and what you think.”
The Aussie dancer continued: “We honestly thought it as well to be honest at the start, I had doubts in my mind even if I could teach Chris how to do this, I was really scared, I really was.

Bringing their conversation back to some lighthearted fun, he joked: “Surprising people and getting to show five was a pipedream… that would have been a success.”
