Wayne Rooney sends sweet first message to Coleen Rooney after she missed out on ITV I’m A Celebrity glory
Coleen Rooney has revealed her husband Wayne’s emotional first words following her stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, where she finished as runner-up to McFly’s Danny Jones.
The 38-year-old media personality, who spent nearly four weeks in the Australian jungle, spoke with her football manager husband via FaceTime shortly after Sunday night’s finale.
“Wayne just said how proud he was,” Coleen said to the Daily Mail. “Obviously, in the letter he sent to me in camp, he said he’s never missed me as much as he does now.”
The couple, who typically speak multiple times daily, had been unable to communicate throughout her time on the ITV reality show.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain hours after the finale, Coleen reiterated the details of their emotional conversation.
“He just said how much he missed me, how proud he was, and he said the support back home has been unbelievable,” she told hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid.
“He just can’t wait to see me and I can’t wait to see him as well,” she added, appearing emotional during the interview.
The pair’s reunion was delayed as Wayne remained in the UK managing Plymouth Argyle.
“We’ve been apart for weeks and weeks on end,” Coleen explained to the Daily Mail. “We speak a number of times a day, and we FaceTime. To not have that communication, it’s been tough.”
The Rooneys’ love story began when they first met at age 16 in the Liverpool suburb of Croxteth.
The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Portofino, Italy, in 2008, with performances from iconic bands Westlife and Stereophonics at their £5 million wedding.
They have since welcomed four sons: Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six.
While their two youngest boys travelled to Australia to greet their mother, the elder sons remained at home.
“My two older boys have stayed at home because school is important at this age,” Coleen explained, noting that her younger sons “brought work away with them.”
Wayne’s absence was due to his commitments as Plymouth Argyle manager in Devon.
During her time in the jungle, Coleen experienced an emotional reunion with her mother Colette and her youngest sons Kai and Cass.
“I’m crying because I’m happy, because I’ve missed you so much,” she told her sons during the tearful meeting.
Speaking about her decision to join the show, Coleen told Good Morning Britain: “I felt ready to give it a go. It was a challenge for myself to take myself away from my family, and I don’t regret anything now after coming out.”

She revealed her biggest fears weren’t the trials or creepy crawlies, but rather more unexpected challenges.
“It was karaoke and cooking,” she admitted. “I don’t do karaoke, so why would I go on a show and think that I had to do it?”
Despite missing out on the jungle crown, Coleen expressed gratitude for the public’s support.
“I think that people’s vote meant a lot. I have celebrated a lot of people in my life, so for people to celebrate me felt special,” she shared on the show’s spin-off programme Unpacked.
The WAG dismissed rumours of a “£1m telly deal” following her jungle success.
“I’m looking forward to Christmas, and then in January, I will sit down with my team and see what I am going to do going forward,” she told reporters.
She added that her sons would be proud of her achievement: “My boys have been proud of their dad for so long, it’s my turn now.”
