Rebekah Vardy makes feelings clear on Coleen Rooney’s ITV I’m A Celebrity success with surprise message
Rebekah Vardy has seemingly made a dramatic U-turn in her long-running feud with Coleen Rooney following the latter’s successful stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
The 42-year-old wife of footballer Jamie Vardy has praised Rooney’s performance on the ITV reality show, where she finished as runner-up to McFly’s Danny Jones.
In a surprising shift from her previous hostile stance, Vardy declared it was “time to move on” from their bitter “Wagatha Christie” dispute in her latest column for The Sun.
Writing in her column, Vardy stated: “Coleen has had a fab series. She has really done well and made herself proud.”
The former I’m A Celebrity contestant added: “Yes, I know you’re all waiting for me to say otherwise, I’m sorry to disappoint, but it’s just not happening.”
Emphasising her desire to end the feud, Vardy declared: “It’s really, really time to move on and end the year with a positive.”
This conciliatory tone marks a stark contrast to Vardy’s previous comments about Rooney’s jungle appearance.
Just weeks ago, Vardy had expressed hopes of seeing Coleen being “forced to eat bull’s penis, ostrich bum and humble pie” in the jungle.
She had also claimed that Rooney was following in her footsteps, having appeared on I’m A Celebrity herself in 2017.
In a particularly pointed comment, Vardy had suggested: “I think she always wanted my life.”
The feud between the two WAGs began in 2019 when Rooney accused Vardy’s Instagram account of leaking stories to the press.
The dispute culminated in the highly publicised “Wagatha Christie” High Court trial in 2022, where Vardy lost the case and was ordered to pay 90 percent of Rooney’s legal costs.
Speaking about the trial during her time in the jungle, Rooney told campmates: “What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke and that’s really disappointing, it wasn’t a joke for me.”
The I’m A Celebrity finale drew over seven million viewers, marking an increase of around half a million from last year’s finale.
Rooney secured an impressive 44.8 percent of the public vote in her runner-up finish.
Her strong finish could also spell further opportunities for the 38-year-old.
